The Story

Size:74 x 54 in.

Kasey Child’s Green Marsh (69" x 50") is an electrifying explosion of colour and movement, embodying his signature abstract expressionist style. This large-scale piece pulsates with layers of green, orange, and blue, interwoven with bold strokes of pink and black. The composition appears to shift and evolve, with spontaneous, graffiti-like markings and gestural brushwork creating a sense of energy and organic growth. The painting captures the raw vitality of the natural world, echoing the unpredictable beauty of marshland ecosystems through its abstract forms.

Child, an Irish-American and French-Canadian painter, is known for his fearless approach to abstraction. His works reflect themes of uncertainty, climate change, and extreme weather, often evoking landscapes shaped by fire, floods, and storms. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Cecily Brown and Joan Mitchell, as well as public art movements in Montreal, Miami, and Philadelphia, he blends fine art with the rebellious spontaneity of street art.

Exhibiting across the US and UK, Child is also an independent filmmaker, recently featured in the documentary Rembrandt Lives in New Jersey. His Burlington, Vermont-based studio is a hub for both his visual and cinematic explorations, solidifying his reputation as a dynamic force in contemporary art.
